It wasn't that solo, her mother put her on the bus and then my mother met her at the last stop, but still...! It's a big step! Go Ana! You know, I wasn't much older than she is now when I was allowed (after calling and checking with my mother first) to take the bus to the boat and then head into Manhattan on my own. (And inevitably I ended up at the bookstore, either the Borders in the WTC or the B&N at Union Square. I remember so well sitting on the window seat at that Borders, with the stain on it and the carpet that originally was green to look like grass to match the wooden tree, but that they changed to a solar system carpet without getting rid of the tree. No joke, I have had dreams about that place.)
