The orange eater was back!

I think it's a catbird. It's gray, long tailed, no wing bars. Of course, it came in the morning when I was trying to get as much yard time as possible before it becomes unreasonably hot, so I ended up trapped against the fence for a minute waiting politely for my visitor to leave. And after watching it eat, I think it's been coming for a week or so. I just didn't realize that I was looking at bird-eaten orange halves, I thought they were just dried and I wasn't changing them frequently enough because, well, I wasn't.

I haven’t finished the front but it was so hot

I got some work on the side. My goodness we are overgrown with trees there. I like the shade, but some of these are right up against the house. If I can’t get them out they’ll have to go. It’s a pity, because some are some really nice specimens. We’ve got this Japanese maple… I wonder if anybody would come take it out from our porch. They could keep the tree and transplant it. I just hate to kill it.

Went to the supermarket to get pancetta and lemons, and Celebration was playing

Probably a coincidence, but I'm pretending not. (That store has the most eclectic taste in music. I'm guessing nobody is actually in charge of the playlist, it's just whoever gets to the switch first.)

They didn't have pancetta, though. In other news, something is definitely eating from the syrup feeder, I just haven't caught them at it. Also, small online brag, but in the past two days I've identified three different books where the OPs got nearly every detail wrong. Sometimes I manage to even impress myself!
