I say new because, of course, it is new - she's going through hats and gloves like you wouldn't BELIEVE. Just keeps losing them.

When we got to the school, I observed that there was a purple striped glove - stunningly like Ana's - neatly perched on top of the fence. Clearly, some child had dropped it on the way in, and a helpful adult had put it at eye level.

(I already knew it was Ana's.)

Now, inside, Ana had just found out her glove was missing, and - she filled in the story later - she was in a real mood about it. Very upset, and when convinced to leave she was cranky enough that her friend asked her why she was making a mean face! "BECAUSE I'M MAD!" But I didn't know any of this. It does explain, however, why her teacher's first words to me were, rather tentatively, "Okay... well... Ana seems to have lost her gl-"

At this point I waved the newly found glove. "Yeah, it was on the fence!"

Ana was amazed, much more than the situation should warrant, but, alas, her mood didn't really cheer up all day :(

She was much happier today.

Honestly, Monk is always right, but he does everything backwards. If a real police department solved cases by finding the guilty party first and then proving it, we'd say they were railroading people - and rightfully so!

And despite what Monk thinks, pointing with two fingers is not a trait exclusive to murderers. THAT'S his big evidence? Now he's gonna prove that the guy's the killer, and he is, but Monk is still wrong.
