I've learned something lately.

PMS makes me creative! And busy! I can come up with all sorts of creative lists of things to do, and brilliant plans, and I can be the BESTEST AUNT EVAH and totally rock. Bouncing around in my mind, that's me!

It also makes me a teeny bit cranky. (Just a bit.)

On the plus side, all my increased creativity means I can whip out a counter-flame pretty fast if the need should arise, but maybe I should shut up for a change and turn off the computer. I'm sure I'll feel bad about this all in the morning (such as it is).

Actually, I feel a little ashamed of arguing with sillies already. I may lay low for a few days until the feeling passes. I suppose it is a little immature, and I'm trying not to do that. (No, really, I am.)

Ana's class went on a trip to Historic Richmond Town. She came back very excited. Why? Because she had seen...

a wheelbarrow!

She wouldn't shut up about it! (Oh, and she learned what a cloak is, which is useful information.)

It's literally a block and a half long. One side is broken up halfway with a quiet little side street going up the hill, the other side isn't. It turns one-way halfway down, and if you turn the corner there it's another quiet little street, which is connected to yet another quiet little street at the end of *that*.

This little ramble of quiet streets is surrounded on three sides by big busy streets instead. (Hey! Why is it quiet little, but big busy? Well, that's irrelevant).

We've got a big busy street on one side going south, and another parallel to it going north, and one connecting the two. Busy, busy, busy. The connecting street does this weird squiggle and keeps going up the hill, giving us three very busy corners. Busy and dangerous, and there's an accident at any one of the three at least once a year. (And that's a light estimate.)

The accident yesterday killed somebody, apparently. These three corners all have either guardrails, or safety poles, or both to protect the buildings there, because too many times cars have made a turn here or there and crashed into one - sometimes in ways that I'd think were highly improbable.

Something has to be done. I have no idea what, but I don't see how it can honestly go on like this. My father was all for sneaking out in the middle of the night and putting his own speed bumps there. "If you go to the city, it'll take them 15 years!" If he'd gone to the city, fifteen years would have come and gone and maybe there'd be a solution by now.

At least they don't speed down our block anymore. They used to, to try to beat the light at the top or the bottom of the hill, but they've stopped ever since various of the little side streets were made one-way.
