Seriously, these things NEVER get cleaned. I spend way too much time: opening the mouse, defluffing it, cleaning the mouse ball, cleaning the damn SCROLLWHEEL because it's covered with compacted skin cells, oil, and dirt...

*shudders*

What's worse, they glued some of the meeses shut, so eventually they get to where they barely work anymore because there's no room for the mouse ball to move. At least, I assume that's the reason. Why they didn't just switch to laser meeses when that one mouse ball was stolen, I don't know.

I want this book.

That is all.

Aside from the absurdity of "OMG! SOMEBODY MIGHT STEAL MY NAME!!!" I have this to ask...

She named her daughter Sonnet? What was going through her head? She named the kid after a friggin' type of POEM. What's next, Limerick? Haiku? Five bucks says she can't quote from a single sonnet.

Sonnet.

Other names I object to, on principle:

Regan/Reagan: this either commemorates King Lear's ungrateful daughter, or one of the worst presidents we've ever had. I do not see the logic in giving this name to your little girl.
Dymphna: Yes, yes, patron saint of Belgium. Yes, yes, patron saint of the insane. Do you really want to give the "insane" name to a little girl?
Robert: This is my dad's name. I can't let anybody have this name, because if I ever have a little boy, that's what I'll call him. So don't steal it from me!

Honestly, why would you want to steal that name? It's not a name. It's a type of poem!

*sighs*

Of course, I think Magrat is perfectly fine, so maybe I'm not the best judge :)

Ooh...

The Original English Movement.

It actually reminds me of an idea I had - the Latin Commune! Get a bunch of people, and recreate Latin as a living language, much like they did with Hebrew.

Well, I'd join anyway.

"What's Jim Crow mean? I don't get it. Who's Jim Crow?"

In other news, I tried to slap her hand today when she yelled. That's what she does to Seth (sometimes), and I had figured that what's good for the gozling is good for the goose. Apparently I was wrong. Damn inconsistent rules!

I know perfectly well who Jim Crow was (or would've been). In fact, I even know that the song "Jim Crow" has the same melody as "Turkey in the Straw". Lizziey was the ignorant one. But thanks for helping anyway.

This is in response to a comment that, apparently, my view of the world (which she believes to be erroneous) is entirely based on the fact that I'm "only 21"

I love the part about how autism does not form a cloud over one's social judgment. Maybe I'm wrong. It often happens. AM I wrong in saying that this is bullshit crap?

Edit: I just checked the DSM. Asperger's/autism requires, among other things, a "lack of social and emotional reciprocity". Wouldn't that entail problems with social judgment?

But since some people seem to have a problem with it, does anybody have suggestions for my disclaimer to make it more obvious?

The whole point of it is to (hopefully) get people to reconsider when they're upset and not just flip out. That just ends badly. I'd rather they tell me why they're upset, because 90% of the time it's a misunderstanding, which can't be cleared up unless I know why they're upset. I thought it made sense that I wasn't dodging responsibility for my actions, but just in case....

Edits, anybody?
