He was the star, by far. Hey, that rhymed! Seriously, though, he got TONS of applause, people coming up to him to personally admire him. He's got fans. And a 10-year-old friend of my Mom's (and now the rest of us) read a poem. Nothing stellar, but I admire her ability to do that. Not everybody can. And Ana was supremely well-behaved for most of it. Yes, she sometimes made a little too much noise, but less than the ubiquitous cell phones, and she's getting good with the concept of "shh!". Then it got late, and her teeth are still coming in, so 'dul had to take her out for the end. *shrugs*

It's true what my mom says. That corner is becoming like a miniature version of the Village. Honestly, you'd have to come here to see it. The Muddy Cup, ladies and gentlemen, wonderful place, bathtub full of books, where I had my first chai. Come visit!

And lots of gay people, which is why I get to use the icon. Kinda a stupid reason, and statement, but I want to use it at least a few times!

I had a perfect schedule set up for this term. Jenn was rather proud of it (she writes all my schedules, as she's a scheduling goddess).

And then, Latin struck.

I forgot, see, that at this stage in my Latin career class times are rather flexible. Apparently, whoever wrote the schedule of classes had the wrong time all along. So Latin is *laughs* right when I have another class!

So now I have three choices:

1. I can drop one of those classes. I don't want to do this. I want to take Anth 1 this term, and if I don't take Medieval Latin I won't be able to for a year, plus I won't know anybody.
2. I can take Medieval Latin entirely online, like Tina's doing. I don't want to do this. I'd never get my work done, and that's the truth.
3. I can call Jenn and ask her to fix up my schedule so that, at the very least, I'm still taking 18 credits even if I am stuck without Anth 1. This is what I'm doing right now.
4. I can scream and bitch and blame everybody but myself (after all, how was *I* to know that the time could change, even though this sort of thing happens often?). I'll commence doing that at once.

Good thing Professor Dunkle emailed, that's all I have to say.

I tried to get Core 6 (required course) but the only open classes required trekking in at 8am. Possible, but not preferable. I did that second summer session, and it was a pain in the expletive. And it'd be harder to only do that twice a week!

So then I tried for Philosophy 10 (reason), which I should've been able to get, but apparently it requires "permission of the chair". Stupid.

Now I'm down to: classes at 8am, classes at 3:30 pm (which is fairly late, I do want to get a job of some sort), and abnormal psych. So I got abnormal psych, class is at 9:25 Tuesdays and Fridays. Not bad.

The online registration system is amazingly counter-intuitive, as in "it requires serious work to be this fucked up" and for some reasons different parts of the site don't get updated at the same way, which makes no sense. There must be a way to program it so that ALL parts of the site update when a class becomes full or cancelled! Heh, what am I saying, this is Brooklyn College, different parts of the site don't even agree as to how to spell "enrollment".

The icon is in honor of Daniel Appreciation Week.

There's an LJ community for brooklyn college. Not much going on there, but people post their schedules. One person, taking 12 credits, said something about how she's the only one who "doesn't want to rush through college". Other people commented on how my four classes last summer was "a lot for the summer".

I can't take summer vacation. When I do, I end up having a huge trouble starting class again. Every time there's a break during the school year (winter, spring, whatever), I spend at least three weeks afterwards being depressed - and a lot of times this is the point where I fuck up my classes. Last year I *never* recovered from winter break. I spent very nearly all of spring break in my room.

Four classes might be a lot for the summer, but I got very nearly all As (one A-). I do better with a lot of classes. Haven't the slightest idea why, but that fact and the fact that I messed up last year, Big Time, is why I'm taking as full a schedule as possible this term. Let's see how it turns out.

There's no point to this. I'm just talking

Cast of Characters for this Journal

Jenn: My older sister. Shorter than I am, blonder. Used to be called Ginger. Sometimes a dancer.
'dul: Jenn's husband. Black. Taller than I am. Also known as Abdul or Demetrius. An artist. Watches the kid.
Ana: My niece, their daughter. Adorable. Born mid-May, 2003. Very grinny. Also known as Angelique.
Lizziey: My foster sister. Younger than I am, and shorter. Red hair, sometimes. Should be in college, isn't. Has a tattoo reading "Seth".
Chris: Lizziey's boyfriend. Nice guy. Loves Seth.
Seth: Lizziey's kid. Born three days before Ana. Very huggy.
Eric: The guy Lizziey ran off with once. For some ungodly reason, Lizziey gave his last name to Seth. Jerk.
Fran, Lizziey's grandma, Junior, Kassondra: People in Lizziey's mom's foster family (aka Lizziey's family). Don't ask for a description.
Mommy: MY MOM! *hugtackles* Like me, but older, taller, and more coordinated. Also drinks coffee, smokes.
Xiggy: One of my best friends. Lives in Minnesota. Has rats.
Bonnemaman: My mother's mother. Love her. Lives in California, is from Belgium. Likes ladybugs.

That's not a full list, but will do for a start, I suppose.

People at School

This is a special list.

Michael-in-my-Latin-class: Graduated. Cute, but annoying.
Aaron-in-my-Latin-class: Michael's twin. I swear, I don't see it.
Tina: Another person in my Latin class, doing CUNY BA.
Professor Dunkle: My Latin professor.
Mr. God-is-not-a-cause: This idiot in my Core 10 class. Will be a running joke, methinks.
