I can only come up with about three reasons to be on the train tracks (maybe four, but it's a real stretch):

1. Crossing them.
2. Retrieving something that fell/blew/wandered (as a pet)/etc.
3. It's your job.
4. It's the ONLY way to get from A to B without bushwhacking--i.e., no road. This is terribly unlikely, but I suppose it COULD happen if one were to get lost in the trackless wilderness and stumble over a railroad with no parallel highway.

True, but if you look both ways, get it and get out, it shouldn't be necessarily fatal. It's not like train tracks are as busy as an Interstate freeway, after all.
