It's a short clip on the (traditional?) Ethiopian method of multiplication. I haven't been so fascinated since I learned about casting out nines!

So I got curious and went to look for more information; apparently it's also known as "Ancient Egyptian multiplication" and "Russian peasant multiplication", though this link indicates that the Russian peasant designation may be a misnomer.
