Apparently this cat used to snuggle with Ana in the backyard. And because Ana is a soft touch and we happened to have a can of cat food around (due to a failed search-and-rescue mission involving a 3-legged one), she fed the cat.

Later that day *I* saw the cat, and passed it a small bit of salmon. This is because I'm also a soft touch, and also because it was clear to me that she's pregnant. (Also? That was before she actually started showing. I have mad cat skillz, guys!)

And she came in the house and looked around and purred a bit. So... when I went to the store I picked up a few more cans of cat food for the hungry mama.

The very next day she waltzed right in and yowled at my mother until she got fed.

And last night she came in and stayed the night.

...

I need to get a litterbox. I actually don't want her having her kittens outside if it can be avoided, though I'm not 100% certain we'll keep her after I can get her to be fixed for free. I like this cat, but I still have my responsibility... issues going on.

If you can't end up getting her spayed for free after she has her babies, I'll donate towards getting her fixed. Several of my friends helped me get our stray mama Sophie spayed, which helped a lot after housing her and her kittens until they could be rehomed.

Aw, I miss Sophie. She was so wild and mean when we brought her in, and I figured she would be a lost cause but hoped we could at least socialize the kittens. But she turned out to be so friendly and sweet once she got used to us, and realized we weren't going to hurt her or her babies.
