Apparently, if somebody threatens to have you imprisoned if you don't "consent" to "have sex with them", that doesn't constitute rape. I mean, not if you're ethical.

Since when does duress constitute consent?

I feel more sorry for her than outraged at her... that is the state of rape culture today, where it's so shameful that someone feels like they have to say anything to re-frame their experience into something else.

Uh, that's a link about a law that makes it so that an 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old can't be convicted for statutory rape. That seems perfectly reasonable to me.

And for the record, I think altering the statutory rape laws to allow for consensual sex between a minor and somebody only a few years older makes sense as well.

There is a difference between "do this or I blow your brains out" and "do this or you lose your job", if only a small one. Whether or not you classify them as "rape" is a matter of semantics: things can be Very Very Bad and deserve knee-capping as a punishment no matter what label they get.
