Huh.

I don't... um... I don't particularly think I care, actually. But it's late. Maybe I will in the morning.

I don't think it'll really change anything. I think it's a symbolic thing more than anything else.

I don't think Osama bin Laden himself is all that important, but they mentioned that while raiding the compound and killing him, they also grabbed all of the information they could find. The intelligence they gathered while doing this may be more relevant than the killing of bin Laden, I suspect. While I don't think Al Qaeda is all that powerful anymore, it is still an organization that does desire to cause death and harm to many people, so intelligence about that organization is a useful thing to have more of.

Me, I had thought he was already dead and we'd never find his body, which would be rather convenient for an indefinite War on Terror. Maybe now the war can be over and we can go back to wearing our shoes at airport check-in?

Yeah. I thought not.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing, since there had been little news on him in the past... nine years?

Speaking of which... can hardly believe that it's almost ten years to the day (minus a few months) the attacks occurred on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

I don't care. I don't think anything at all will really change as a result of this; just we'll have a whole lot more stupid ego-posturing and logic-deficient so-called 'debate': Bread and Circuses as usual, probably with the usual reduction in bread.

I don't even care if it was really bin Laden, or if he was already dead, or if he's still alive, because it isn't going to matter one way or another. If he's still alive, he's a sick old man; if he was dead before, he's still dead now, and so the whole issue is moot.

I'm not even surprised at Obama strutting around like a deliberate parody of Dubya. Embarrassed, yes; surprised, no. Much of the embarrassment comes from the fact that probably nobody else is surprised either; the other nations of the world have come to take it for granted that all American presidents have delusions of Heroic Cowboyhood.

Lord, what fools these mortals be. Bring on the Zombie Apocalypse: woot.
