So, I've decided...
May. 11th, 2004 03:16 amI'm going to buy a book a month for Ana, build her collection up nicely (focusing on what she can enjoy now AND when she gets older) and get Seth a subscription to Babybug magazine. In the long run, the subscription is cheaper for him and I don't have to hear Lizziey say that she has books from her other relatives. I've seen those books and I don't think much of most of them... they're all of them either with noises attatched or much too long/tedious for a baby his age. Books for little kids should have short sentences, few pages, lots of repetition, and rhymes. Which goes in with repetition. He's not going to pay attention to many of the books she's got for him.

Seth could be like me-- I graduated into the "real" world of reading early on (Goosebumps in first grade, novels like Watership Down by third). Of course, I did that because my dad was a reader and I idolized him at the time. Well, you could at least hold out hope for him. He certainly sounds promising enough!
