I'm actually vaguely tempted to do a voicepost now that I have a prepaid cell phone with a lot of minutes just so I can better explain.

It may be worth noting that I almost certainly have what is best described as a "geek accent". My pronunciation tends to be more influenced by spelling than is typical and I am much more prone to pronounce words in their entirety than to just leave off bits of them. There are certain special exceptions, such as the word "drawer", because my region doesn't pronounce all of it. And other words I changed my pronunciation of when I moved, like "ricotta" since going around saying rigutta isn't clear to everyone outside my home area. And I don't say the b in subtle or hmm there is some word that British people pronounce it more like it's spelled but we don't that isn't herb which I also don't say the h in but it's like that and yeah, I do the American thing because I am American. But still, my speech is more text-affected than most.
