Stupid people, stupid people.

Apparently, fixing the 1/9 station at the boat would "disrupt local residents". Well, too bad. That station is a firetrap. During rush hour, it's impossible to get down or up the stairs. You've got an entire train's worth of people crammed into only half the train, which, incidentally, doesn't come close to meeting the platform. They use those extenderthingies on it. Yes, the new (temporary) entrance is better than the old one, but that only highlights exactly how bad the situation is.

I might be a little selfish, but I think the fact that 1. they've been promising to fix that station for years, and haven't yet and 2. it's not only a major commute-stop but also a major tourist-stop and 3. IT IS DANGEROUS really outweighs "it might disrupt local residents and a de facto 9/11 memorial (which can be moved, after all....)

Not only do all the people *on* the train have to be in just one half, but all the people waiting *for* the train going in the "opposite direction" are hanging out on the platform where the already-compressed ridership inside the train is waiting to step out onto.

Yeah, some real platforms would be nice.

I'm frankly surprised every day when nobody has died in that station. You'd think somebody would have been shoved off by now.

*grumble grumble* and maybe handicap/stroller accesable would be nice. Seth isnt getting lighter and carrying him down those stairs in the stroller isn't getting easier. maybe everyone can like start a protest ON the platform, and like refuse to move til they agree to change it. :), yea, i'm stupid. love me anyway.
