I completely and totally disagree...

and man does that poem ever suck, but at least the poster remained levelheaded. Gotta respect that, even if I don't agree. Drama content wasn't as good as it might've been. *le sigh* Anyway, I've put it off long enough, soon as I wake up I'm finally finishing up my Pledge argument, at least until I get bored again. *insert clever catch-phrase here*

Shoving a prayer down someone else's throat is not allowed. I really hate that misunderstanding. "OH NO! My religion has been relegated to the same position as any other! Time for us to wank incessantly, the same way we bitched out any other denomination for sighing wistfully at their enforced prayers!"
Sorry. ::coughs.::

And that one, oh god, that one I think permanently killed half the brain cells in my poetry center when I first read it. Gyarrrrrrrrgh. These people make the baby Shakespeare bawl.

Date: 2004-04-21 08:50 am (UTC)In Canada right now the Religious Wrong are saying that their rights to talk about their beliefs that homosexuality is a sin will be impinged upon if "sexual orientation" is added to laws about hate crimes. No one understands what a hate crime is, and no one has bothered to educate themselves. A hate crime is a crime committed against someone because they belong to a minority group. I'd also think that if they're worried about being accused of hate crimes, then these religious nuts should take a good look at what they're saying -- why would it be identified as hateful? Because really, by protesting hate crimes laws, they're acknowledging that they spread hate.
We also have laws that prohibit the deliberate spreading of hatred against identifiable groups, including gay people but also including people who belong to religious groups (christians included). These laws make exemptions for religous expression. But the Religious Wrong hasn't read the law lately so they just go around spreading their propaganda even though it's completely false.
