They're rocks! But not, of course.

I'm totally getting some for the nieces for school next year. (JENN! THE PAPERWORK! IS DUE!) Might get a big set for the library.

I wonder if they'd be easier for very young children (such as toddlers) to hold. They're cute.

How big are they? I was thinking they might be a choking hazard for the little ones.

You could probably get a mold at a craft store and make your own. They are very cute! If working with hot wax was a suitable project for kids, I'd consider making them this weekend with mine, but I think this is a project to do alone........

Oh, I did that too from a much younger age. You can drip a little bit of hot wax onto a fingernail and it will cool into a nice little rounded blob on one side and the flat/gentle curve of your fingernail on the other. The only downside is that sometimes it will be briefly intensely painful if your fingers under the nail are being sensitive to heat or maybe you don't let it drip far enough, so I don't actually recommend it. I also dip fingers into the molten wax and get little caps in the shape of my fingertips. Sometimes you can peel off wax from your fingers and see the prints.

We always had candles in the house. A decent supply of Sabbath candles even though we didn't light them every Sabbath and then there were candles for Channukah. Plus probably random candles. My siblings closest in age to me and myself have always had an unhealthy fondness for fire.

Nope. One brother left scorch marks on the wooden floor of his bedroom, but that was from chemistry set experiments... and I use the word "set" quite loosely to mean more, whatever chemicals he could convince people to get for him so he could experiment with them. And the other brother once had his foot catch fire without him noticing, but he was okay. He had a sneaker on. The problem was making him realize that the "Your foot is on fire" was not a joke and he needed to roll it out. I think that brother doesn't feel pain from heat normally, he could stick his hand in a candle flame and leave it there while his hand browned a little, and he would just because it really, really bothered me. So catching fire and not realizing, especially as it wasn't direct, was more likely than with most people.

But no permanent harm came from the playing with fire, at least, not as far as I am aware. And we all did grow up to become adults, although I still play with candles and molten wax.

I liked to spread glue on my desk and peel it off in sheets. It's very satisfying. I got in trouble multiple times, though, when someone walked past my desk and put a hand right in my wet glue...

I was too picky and refused to get glue (or dirt or sand or any food) on my hands at ALL. I later discovered my grandpa is the same way, and won't even eat ribs with his hands like most people do.

Well they shouldn't have put their hands on your desk then! :-p

Instead of burning candles, we have a candle warmer, and when the wax is all melted down and hot, I stick my fingers in it all the time.

So does Topher, come to think of it. Shocked? (I'm not!)

They are now the only soy crayons available. Prang used to make regular ones, but discontinued them for some godforsaken reason.
