Last week, at the Ferry, I saw that the (overpriced) bakery was selling Liege waffles.

(They call them "real Belgian waffles", but let me assure you that there is nothing unreal about Brussels waffles.)

And I go "Ooh, waffles, I haven't had a waffle like this since the last time I was in Belgium" which was, for reference, before my father died. (Point of fact, I'm certain I didn't mostly munch on Liege waffles there either, I had a third type of waffle, but I can't find a recipe for those.)

So I shelled out the absurdly high price, bit in and...

Oh, such a disappointment :(

Not what I wanted at all. Sure, they smelled right, but they were too dry, too stale, too... NOT RIGHT.

So I decided to make some of my very own. This is the recipe I used. I'll bite into mine in ONE second, just hold on.

(And let me note that if this works I must find a cheaper source of pearl sugar. The whole $12 went into this batch!)

Well... it's not as sweet as I'd like... and I do believe my waffle iron is too deep for what I want... but ladies and gentlemen, we have WAFFLY GOODNESS HERE!

I gotta go wash my keyboard now, it's all sticky.

Let me know how the kids like them :-) and PLEASE for the love of god make the kitchen SPARKLE today! Poor Deme has had the worst morning ever, not only did ******* leave plaster ALL over his apartment, when they weren't even warned they would be there, but also now the living room has no power, and WORST YET his motherboard got fried. At a time when he can very least afford to be without a computer. :-(
