I'm not even touching this. I couldn't even read all of that. The few parts I *did* manage to read either seemed to be focused on "she isn't really autistic, she just says she is" and "even if they can live without any help, that doesn't mean they can say our kids shouldn't have any"... the latter is so far from anything I've ever heard/read anybody say that I suspect an uncharitable person would accuse them of deliberately skewing the issue.
Oh, and there were a number of strange comparisons to the Deaf. Maybe they've never heard, but cochelear implants are a huge controversy both within and without (?) the Deaf community. That may not be the best comparison to ABA if you're trying to emphasise your support of the therapy.
(edit) In retrospect, I only found one comparision with deaf children. Perhaps it sticks out because they compare not getting a cochlear implant (and presumbably encouraging involvement in the Deaf community) with child abuse.

Date: 2004-04-17 02:19 pm (UTC)If you want any of it on autistics.org, can you say which stuff, what title you want on it, and what name you want on the copyright notice? If you want to post it to your own website, can you tell us where that is? Thanks.

Date: 2004-04-17 10:33 pm (UTC)I'd be thrilled, though I haven't given it enough thought to think about it. *frowns* Stupid redundant sentence.
1. Honestly, I don't know what you guys want, but you can assume that if it's not friends-locked, I don't mind it going up there. Most of my autistic related stuff is in my memories under "AS", the recent things will go there as soon as I get my act together and put them there. If you actually want me to stop being lazy and make a list, I can do that, just give me a bit.
2. Nevermind, I'll make a list and make up titles as I go along. But honestly, please, edit titles. I hate titling work, it comes out sounding wrong mihi.
3. *hems and haws* I'm so tempted to say "Uly", since my friends online often do call me that (those who know to do that and who can't spell ulyyf), but I think it'd look better under my actual name, Connie Baker.
4. This is my own website, kindasorta, and while I don't mind trolls wandering all through my livejournal (no comment emails), I think it'd look better on autistics.org in the end anyway, so no complaints.
I'll add you to my friends list and make a post about this in a bit. Once I get over being pleasantly surprised.
