Autistic girl? Or typing sensation?
Anyway, he said some things about... well, about hypocrisy really, of dismissing her opinion of autism just because you don't agree with it.
The comments are fascinating. I have my own view, but I'm waiting until I can get it right to post it. Right now, I'm off on 20 different tangents, and it doesn't even make sense to me when I type it all down!
Incidentally, that's also where I found this link, on Tito Rajarshi Mukhopadhyay's new book, though really, it's a bit old.
Edit: Oh, and the comments to the actual ABC article on this girl? I wouldn't bother. Some of them are actually frightening - like the woman who has been working as a para on a bus with autistic kids for two or three years and who has only just now realized that "when my students are getting frustrated during their ride to and from school they are trying to communicate."
God only knows what she thought was going on.

Secondly, here is a link to a much better article: http://www.wired.com/images/press/pdf/autism.pdf
There. Now I can sleep at night! :-P

Not, I'm sad to say, all the time, but it's that way with everybody. Some people just don't seem to do their jobs, parentwise.
