My mom and I have been playing endless games of Carcassonne lately

I can't wait until we can get Jenn in on the games, I'm sure it'll be a different, somewhat more exciting experience. But she's got stuff she's doing now.

We have a serious Carcassonne addiction around here. We even have all the expansion packs except the one with the buildings. It's fun to try to play it with all of them.

If you find you sometimes don't have time, there's a game Gareth got me for Christmas called "Fjords" that's a similar idea and mode of play but takes only about 15-20 minutes.

Oh but Fjords is specifically 2 people only. So good for you and your mom but not so much if you want to include Jen.

We've ordered some of the expansions for ourselves, too. Which ones would you say are the better ones?

Definitely The River and The River 2, although we got those in a set with the game itself so you may already have them if you got the same edition. Inns and Cathedrals is great, I also really like Traders and Builders. We think that The Count of Carcassonne you can take or leave, and definitely skip The Princess and the Dragon. It really changes the whole nature of the game from a strategy-how-can-I-win to a strategy-how-can-I-screw-the-other-players game. Which I hate.

So I'm thinking you wouldn't like The Tower (the one with the buildings, maybe?), where the big difference seems to be "ransoming" meeples...?
