Ordered Mexican food for dinner.
Jul. 8th, 2007 07:36 pmAnd the woman took several minutes to understand my address. Seriously - even now, I'm in fear that she misspelled it after I painstakingly spelled it for her several times, and we'll get called in 20 minutes about how our driver is lost.
Meanwhile, I have to deal with smart comments from my mom about how I should try Spanish. Because what that conversation really needed was interruptions.
(Of course, I have nothing but respect and sympathy for people living their lives learning a new language. I do. But it would be nice if somebody who understands me, or who at least knows the area well enough to guess at my street, was the one taking the orders. I'm just saying.)
As far as the Spanish thing goes - my Spanish ain't that good. And besides, it wouldn't've helped. I highly doubt this woman's Spanish is any better than her English, based on the simple fact that, like everybody else who seems to work there, she is not Hispanic at all, but Chinese. I assume that's why they sell wonton soup. Haven't tried the soup yet. Their tortillas are pretty good.
