Hey what do you think about mainstreaming? (No ABA, pullouts for speech and ot as far as I know.)

I keep thinking I wound up (and other people say so) in a pretty ok place for this.

That second article really hit me. I'd never considered that educators are looking for "proof" of learning, but that's exactly it.

Then it also becomes a funding issue. I work as a medicaid service coordinator for kids with disabilities, and I know that they won't get qualified for services or resources unless they're able to be tested. It does get complicated.

My daughter's school will cut out those subjects for reading. NO SCIENCE and an extra section of reading.

Oh and one thing they said in passing at the developmental and disability clinic we go to is the reason they, well one of the reasons T is only considered mildly mr, is that his physical markers were all met. That kids who are mr are slow to walk and crawl and hop and things like that.

And then they also said that the mr dx is not something to consider permanent and made sure i understood the limitations of testing him. But that since he could medically be considered so we would have it written down to get the waivers.

I am glad that there they do not do the asd=mr thing, I had someone argue with me that I should see MORe doctors until I got one that understood that T was retarded.

AH people annoy me. But she was fired (she worked with the school system). She also wanted to use PECS with F because, well, he has an IEP so obviously he need PECS. WTF?

Just an fyi on the phone - should you need to set it up, they are all in the top of my closet I believe and the paperwork needed (the invoice or order paper, ummm the paper that came with the order...) should be in my desk drawer. It is a VERY simple process to set up, just check that the order-paper is the one with YOUR phone number on it.
