Her favorite word right now is "Kack, kack, kack" (from a book, actually), which means duck. That's why the icon.
Obviously, she's just the brightest girl ever. Let's see...
1. She clutches her crotch when she's just peed or pooed, and will say the words. If we ask "Did you go...?" she'll answer us by nodding or shaking her head. So today, when she grabbed her crotch, and I asked if she'd gone poo-poo, and she shook her head at me and said no, I believed her! She never poos in the afternoon anyway, except when she does and I'm totally unprepared, but this time I had spare pants, so we were *good*.
Except she *had*. Given that she usually answers that question right off the bat, and correctly, I can only pray she's not clever enough to have figured out lying yet, because if she is, we're in trouble.
2. If Ana tells her something, she really responds. Ana says "Go get me the car", and she won't do it, but if Ana adds a "please" at my behest, she will. She won't share food willingly anymore just because Ana asked nicely - which really upsets the big sister figure :)
3. Ana still calls Evangeline "sister". It was very funny today, watching Ana playing with her friend Caylinn (okay, I have no idea how they spell that name, but there's no T. That's all I know), and Caylinn just turned 3, and she has her *own* baby sister (who's 13 months), and she was calling Evangeline "Sister! SIIIIISTER!" just like Ana often does.
4. She likes to hold dolls under her shirt and smack her lips. Ana wasn't doing this yet, she was just making Jenn do it. Evangeline has tried asking me to nurse her toys - I pointed out that I don't have milk, and got my breast grabbed for my troubles. Ouch. Gotta work on that grabbing things.
5. One annoying habit of hers is climbing in my lap as soon as I'm done eating. I mean, it's cute and cuddly and all, and it's kinda sweet - but really, it has to stop. (Of course, I mentioned this to 'dul *right after* letting her climb in my lap, and he got on my case about it. She'd just had her shots, I felt sorry for her!) The upswing for this, for Jenn, is that there are slightly fewer dirty dishes every day - I've taken to just washing them so I have no lap and we can avoid the issue entirely.
6. One of the things Ana does is she hides when her parents come home, and makes them find her. Nowadays, the baby hides with her, and giggles and grins and comes out and hides again and loves it :)
7. She clearly has a sense of humor. I pointed out that a dolphin in a book was having milk, and she pretended to nurse on the page - and when I giggled, she did that to another book :) Yesterday, I put her up so she'd nap. (She didn't, not yet.) As I was putting her up, explaining why, she said "No", very clearly. So I told her that she tripped over her own feet, and that meant she was tired, and she let me put her up easily. Soon after, I rushed Ana out of the museum, telling her "Your sister needs to nap, she's falling asleep as we speak!" and the baby flopped her head dramatically on my chest and started to fake-snore!
8. She loves her shoes. Or did, before I lost them. (Not paying for them after all, but I'm babysitting the kids next week overnight. No great loss for me.) Hopefully, she'll love the new ones too - they'll probably be the same exact brand and style anyway.
9. If I fake cry, she runs up giggling and gives me a big hug and kiss. This is great, because it's a surefire way to rein in her wandering without having to get my lazy ass up.
10. It *is* possible to braid her hair nowadays, if you're better at braids than I am.
11. I think I may have heard her say some simple phrases lately - not things like "thank you", which counts as one unit to her ears, but things like "go up" or "more bread". I'm not certain though, and more time with the baby will be needed. Gee, wonder if I'll get any of that :P
12. She doesn't like rice crispy treats.
13. She *does* like teensy weensy doll-sized-spoonfuls of pudding. Her specific phrase was "Yum yum - mamamammamaaaaaaaa!"
14. She can walk down stairs by herself now. IT'S SCARY!
