(I just realized I can embed stuff, but I bethought it wise to cut it anyway.)

Anyway, once I saw the version with subtitles... I have to say, this seems pretty... well, normal. People do some crazy stuff to get their kids to use the toilet.

Okay, the talking pee and poo is still a little bizarre - but if I thought it would work, I'd be pushing the idea on everybody I knew with an appropriately-aged child.

So maybe Japan isn't so weird after all?

compared to the takashi miiake movie i just watched (visitor q), this is pretty tame for japanese media. :P

I think the subtitles don't add much. The context is pretty clear without them, and the whole thing is bizzare anyway. In particular the cheering sequences.

. . . I can't help it. Between the making-poo-poo face and the "Yatta!", I'm thinking of Hiro Nakamura.

Personally, I love that video and the other related ones. They're fantastic for teaching little kids. (Even if yes, the singing poo and pee are a little odd, but good god, I know the US has a ton of equally odd things.)
