Though many marriages aren't, that should be the criteria, not gender. But even I am getting a little tired of seeing the same image everywhere. I wish people would wait a few days before posting it in their own journal, it wouldn't be so annoying to see.

And yeah. Marriage would be love except that it's really a religious/legal institution defined by either sacred bonds or tax breaks. Love is an emotion.

-If a man accuses a woman of not being a virgin at the time of their marriage, "evidence" of the virginity must be brought forth. If there is evidence, the man is whipped and fined. If, however, no evidence can be procured, the wife is executed.
-A woman must marry her rapist if he is caught while raping her.
-If a man so much as suspects that his wife is cheating on him, he can take her to the priest and have her drink water that is mixed in with the dust on the floor in a process similar to "Ordeals" of old. If she is innocent, nothing happens, but if she is guilty, her body undergoes several revolting changes.
-In addition to buying and marrying women, soldiers can also marry female prisoners of war at no apparent charge. The drawbacks, however, are that they can't have sex until the 30 day mourning period expires, and if the wife displeases the husband, he can't sell her(although that is an advantage for the wife.)
