Swedish New Yorkers get to meet up every year and dance around a maypole.
French New Yorkers get to meet up every year and race waiters.
Burmese New Yorkers get to meet up every year and throw water at each other, and back in Bensonhurst we had Santa Rosalia right in time for my mom's birthday, and we're Belgian and all and....

What do Belgian New Yorkers get to do? It's not like it's just us. We're constantly finding other Belgians in the city. It's a bit creepy, really. And we don't even have a fete. We should have a fete. It's only right.

Whom do I contact to remedy this situation?

Have you tried contacting the Belgian Consulate's office (http://www.diplomatie.be/newyork/default.asp)?
Also, that site lists "Clubs for Belgians". One of them actually seems to be based in NYC (and there are a few in NJ), so you might try contacting them to see if they ever do fetes or similar events.

So if you want to set something (http://flybmi.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.htm?fx=event&event_id=74966) up, you'd better hustle...
Belgians take to the streets of Brussels on 21 July every year with their black, yellow and red flags to celebrate with street festivals, music and a stunning firework display in front of the grand Royal Palace.
You could start small this year, with a party at your house.

...and these guys (http://www.visitbelgium.com/contactus.html) are NY based and might have flags or ideas for you.

My pleasure! :) I love fruits of all kinds, but the humble tangerine may be the most beautiful.
