Some people...
Feb. 4th, 2004 01:25 pmWe all know what I think about Zzo. Let's hear what I think about auryanne. Unless I'm severely mistaken, she's dracosolaris.
In all honesty, I think she's a driving force behind forumwide staffhatings. Shroomy, I like. Marissa, when she shows up, I can accept because she only bitches with cause. Draco can rot in hell when she's being a bitch. Seriously, she CAN be nice, I've seen it, so why she's being a snot now, I don't get.
I can understand if you don't like to see your artwork criticised, but when people are doing so respectfully (as with the royalpets pb), you need to accept it like an adult and move on. Unless you're not an adult, in which case, if you can't pretend to be one, you need to get off the keyboard and move on.
You certainly do NOT have the right to say "they hate everything neopets" when 1. if that were true, we'd have a better way to waste our time than posting on Neocolours and 2. if you'd bothered to read anything but what suits your narrow worldview, you'd know there's many things about neopets people at NC actually, even nearly unanimously, like, and that the things we don't like are disliked for very good reasons.
Continuing that, it's stupid to say that we should put our art up for criticism when, in fact, the people at NC already do that. Even if we didn't, that is beside the point. I don't have to be able to draw to dislike something that you have made. If that were the case, I couldn't criticize a type of computer unless I had already made a better one, nor the president until I had been elected.
The difference, of course, between your art and her art is that you aren't getting paid, and really don't have to accept criticism if you don't like. She IS getting paid, and should be willing to learn what people do and don't like. And if she isn't, she'd best stop reading those boards before she gives herself an aneurysm.

Date: 2004-02-04 01:34 pm (UTC)And I agree. She completely overreacts, and always takes everything personally whether it's about art or not. I don't know the details on this latest discussion since I'm staying away from NC while I get my act together for studio, but I can imagine it follows the pattern. Several people criticize something, maybe a couple people say they like it, maybe one person (probably a guest) says "IT SUX!!!!111" and she goes ballistic and says we never like anything. Then people try to reason with her and she goes off in a huff, and everybody else remains to post scathing remarks on her behavior.

Date: 2004-02-10 03:26 pm (UTC)Valid criticism? Okay.
Uninformed, ignorant or flat-out wrong? Not okay.
And zat's all I'll say about that, if you would like to badmouth her, please do it the proper way, to her face -->
Oy vey...
Date: 2004-02-04 02:39 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure it IS dracosolaris. Compare the accounts, if you haven't already. They eyrie on auryanne has artwork that is very much Draco's style, and both accounts make references to her favorite musical.

Re:
Date: 2004-02-10 04:38 pm (UTC)I hardly hate neopets. In fact, I enjoy it quite a lot -- it still gives me relief from the stress of school, which was why I began playing it again in the first place. However, the frustrations of the game sometimes do outweigh the enjoyment I take from it soimetimes... mostly for reasons beyond yours or my control. If frustration ever begins to outweigh enjoyment permanently, I will quit neopets. For the moment, I'm fairly content with my place in the game. Just because I've got opinions doesn't mean I hate anything at all. I don't recall ever saying that I hate the game.
I don't see why you should take such offense anyway -- I realize that some of my comments have been unecessarily harsh, but that's usually when my personal life overwhelms me and turns me into a bitch towards everyone and everything. For the most part, I believe all of the colours I've disliked recently, I've done so for valid reasons. Either a pet is not my taste (I hate the colour orange, and plushie pets creep me out to a certain degree, and I am not fond of anthro pets for reasons I and others have detailed) or the pet in question doesn't match my expectations and I am disappointed. I believe I usually give reasons for my opinions. Unless you want everyone to fall down in blind worship of you and your colleagues, I honestly don't understand why you have such a problem with criticism. Especially as every single person on neocolours has pets that they adore beyond reason, and many recently released pets have gotten almost almost unanimously positive reactions. If you took the time to read the threads about the maraquan draik and the mutant meerca, for example, you'd see that the majority of people love the pets. That hardly amounts to forumwide hate of all neopet art, as you constantly seem to be implying.
When it comes down to it, the majority of us still see a great deal of good in neopets, despite pets, colours or problems within the site. Therefore, we stay. You do not seem to see anything good in neocolours. Therefore, you should take your own advice and just leave.

Date: 2004-02-04 03:23 pm (UTC)All I have to say is that it's good that no one is bowing down to neostaff.. well, maybe a little at Shroomy, but she really is cool, and nice. If she went around bitching at everyone, no one would like her either.
Do you know what neopets auryanne has drawn? I'm a bit curious..

Date: 2004-02-04 06:51 pm (UTC)Wow; they've done some really good pet colours. Christmas Wocky and Zafara? Pirate Eyrie, baby Cybunny, Darigan Eyrie, all wonderful pets. But then he's also responsible for putting the stupid tooth on the otherwise beautiful baby Uni.. blah. Oh well.

Date: 2004-02-06 05:59 am (UTC)Now, I cannot whine about Dracosolaris's lastest frask, considering I was gone.
I'm not too fond of Marissa's attitude, but, she's not the kind of person that makes mountains out of molehills.

Date: 2004-02-10 03:28 pm (UTC)Valid critiques are perfectly fine. Everyone who's gone to art school, she and Marissa both, have been subject to them, and far worse than anyone on Neocolours can come up with. It's just that, well, no one on Neocolours really knows or understands what goes on in the office.

Date: 2004-02-10 04:44 pm (UTC)It's true, we don't understand what goes on in the office. But no one has ever told us. I'm sure most of the other people at NC are as curious about it as I am -- we'd all be happy to hear an explanation if you feel like posting one. As it is, we can only say what we think and make guesses. Until someone takes steps to enlighten us, that's not going to change.
