What happens when
boob_nazis and
childfree meet up?
FOOOOOOOD FIIIIIIIGHT!
(edit) It's been deleted :(
Let's just say that it was about breastfeeding in public, you can draw your own conclusions.
(second edit) Here's the
boob_nazis official response.
childfree made TWO responses, one of which is here. I'm not sure if the double posting is because they're speshul or merely special. Or possibly they have more posters, and I wanted an excuse to say speshul. All we need is for
bottlefeeding to chime in and we'll have the boxed set. Trollerific!
The drama seems to be over now, thank the appropriate deity. Incidentally, while the
childfree (not refering to all childfree, merely the more common attitude of that community) are most populous here, the original post had some fairly trolly comments from the
boob_nazis side of things. Yes, calling somebody an asshole is trolly, even if you think they deserve it.
Here's my view:
Most nursing mothers are discreet. It's possible this one wasn't, I don't know. It's equally possible that they were staring, and despite what some people think, if you stare, it's your own fault you got offended. If you don't have the self-control to look away, that's not my problem, or anyone else's. Once, I saw a man masturbating on the train. At 10 am, which really freaked me out because rush hour is barely over at that time, it's no time to be a perv. Trust me when I tell you that this is NOT what I wanna see in the morning, my breakfast isn't even digested yet. Trust me some more when I say that I didn't stare at him while going "god, that's so disgusting". Instead, I... looked away. It's a useful skill. Learn it.
Now, you may not want to see other people breastfeeding in public. You might think the argument "because I can't show my breasts elsewhere" is oh-so-clever, it's not, because you can, and I don't care. Similarly, I wouldn't care if this culture allowed you to go butt naked in public, because you're right, there isn't a difference between the genitals and the breast, and I don't mind it. Your attempts to create a slippery slope argument are worthless. That slope doesn't lead anywhere I don't like.
Similarly, just because the breast, like the penis, oozes fluid doesn't mean it should be hidden. So does the nose. And, just because the breast, like the vagina, is a sexual object doesn't mean it should be hidden. So are the lips. Now, because many people disagree, I would advise others to be discreet. Most are. Stop complaining about EVERYONE when you're really talking about virtually NO ONE.
Going on further, I have two *specific* complaints about two *specific* people.
1. Natural does not mean normal. I can think of many ways I am not normal, for example, I am lefthanded, but those things are not unnatural. Being gay isn't normal, but gay people are gay by nature. Being autistic (you knew I'd drag it in here somehow!) isn't normal, but it's certainly natural (with the exception of the possible mercury connection. I highly doubt there is such a thing, but anyone who became autistic because of a vaccine is autistic unnaturally). When I get tired of telling you that and go to a dictionary, it's not because I'm giving up, it's because you're a moron. You've hit my list of people I don't like, bumping it to ~4. Considering the shit I've gone through in my life, that's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations.
2. When you ask why people can't use a bottle with breast milk (an honest question) and I say "it increases the risk of ear infections, and then even give you a link to prove it, please respond. You don't even have to agree, just acknowledge that you read the link and understand what I was getting at. When, further down you say "nobody has ever died because of formula" and I give you some examples of deaths which can clearly be ascribed to formula or bottlefeeding, not even citing the higher infant mortality rate for formula fed babies, again, please respond. It's only polite. No, the vast majority of bottlefed babies won't die. Yes, breastfeeding your child won't guarantee that they outlive infancy. However, more formulafed babies die in infancy than breastfed babies. Even those in areas with good water. That is a fact, okay? Formulafeeding may not be murder, but people sometimes DO die from it. Even all these nonresponses are fine except you then proceeded to rant that we all called you ignorant and stupid for your suggestion. WTF, man? You WERE ignorant. You weren't stupid until you pulled that shit, the least you can do is acknowledge when people are trying to help you understand something.
As a side note, I've smelled the shit. Formula fed babies really smell much, much worse than the breastfed sort. I'll wager that you prefer the sight of a breastfeeding mother to the smell of a formulafed diaper.
And an apology to the original poster. While the first post was rude mihi, the second wasn't, and she didn't deserve all this trolling. *sighs*
