We dyed eggs... uh... yesterday.
Apr. 4th, 2006 06:06 amIt was fun.
Of course it was fun, it's always fun.
Deniz came over, and we smelled the vinegar and lemon juice to decide which one to use (lemon juice, hands down, even if it doesn't make as bright a color on the egg), and we dyed almost exactly three dozen eggs (one cracked on the floor, so forget that). The favorite part was when I turned the water on full in the bathroom sink and emptied out the bowls one by one. *grins*
I'd meant for Deniz to take half of them home, but she had to rush out because Su is sick, and look, Deniz may be too, so they're all going to the doctor. *sighs* I wish somebody had *told* me. I'd've insisted Deniz blow her nose and wash her hands more often. I mean, you honestly can't keep kids inside all the time they're sick, you'd never recover (which is a pity, because children are the vector for very nearly every disease known to man), but you can at least limit whom they're exposing to germs.
And we made popcorn. AND, in contrast to my mother, I insisted that both Ana and Deniz help clean up the mess they made.
So it wasn't a complete disaster. Not a disaster at all, in fact, quite a success.
Except now we've got 35 hard boiled eggs to use up. I don't even *like* hard boiled eggs. But I guess I'll be eating them for a long time....
(We've also got another packet of dyes. Hee. Once we use up the hard boiled eggs, I (not Ana! she drops things) am going to dye as many raw eggs as possible (in cups, not bowls, so as to get a more even color) to use up later. Ana likes eggs very nearly every day of the week for breakfast, and Jenn/'dul are everlastingly making quiches and Potato Omelettes, so even three or four or five dozen uncooked eggs wouldn't last very long. And they'd be all pretty colors, too.)
