This is totally the bestest toy EVER! No, I'm not just saying that.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] spacemuffin! Why, this article and the one on the knight school are almost making me forget the state of the world.

Happy to serve! I thought of you the moment I saw it!

That actually reminds me of when I was 4; my father took a whole bunch of big boxes and cut and taped and made me this wonderful complex of tunnels and hiding places. And he even hid a pillow inside for me to find. It was the coolest! Thanks for reminding me about that simple joy.

Once when my sister's childhood cat had kittens, I made a kitten castle out of a cardboard box. So in my room, we kept the kittens VERY happily while they played for HOURS in/around.through the cardboard box and the windows and doors we had cut out. I still remember that. :-)

And GREAT HUGE cardboard boxes indeed are great fun to build personal private hangouts.

Not boxes, but do you remember how Twinkies and such used to be wrapped in aluminum or silver foil? I used to eat them and then spend the rest of my lunch recess turning the wrapping into dinosaurs and such monsters.

This was not necessarily an AS thing: several of the "normal" kids used to join me in this. But I have to admit that whenever a piece of foil does come my way, I test my pterodactyl making skills if I have the time.

Colin's favorite toys are pipe cleaners, and have been for a few years now. I try and keep him supplied. MUCH better than having a tv in his room (which I disagree with on principle, but that's me.
