They're going to start paying me again next week, so that's good - as I say, if I wanted to be a parent, I would go out and have kids. (This statement should not be taken to mean that I wouldn't "step up to the plate" if Jenn/'dul or Lizziey/Chris were to suddenly die and all, just that since they're all still alive....)

Ana is getting smarter by the day. Interesting thing, though...

1. Her pronunciation...

Cicada becomes "ca-ya"
Daddy/tatty/dotty all become "daddy"
Tada becomes "tada"
Patty becomes "pa-yee"
Laddy becomes "ya-dee"

I'm trying to figure out exactly what the pattern is here - laddy threw me for a bit of a loop.

2. Her grammar...

This is something I just noticed. When Ana wants to do something, or is going to do something, she always uses "the" instead of the appropriate pronoun:

I brush the (da, really, but I'm translating here) teeth (not my teeth)
I brush the hair (not your hair or Connie's hair)
You kiss the knee (not my knee)
I get the bear. MINE BEAR! (not I get my bear, and note that my becomes mine when she tries to grab it from us)

I wonder why that is.

And of course, she's big on "no", a lot when people are leaving and she doesn't want them to:

NO BYE-BYE! NO O-WA! NO ALUVYU!

or possibly

NO BYE-BYE MOMMY! BYE-BYE CONNIE!

because, of course, she figures you can just trade adults that way.

Baby's due in the front-end of November, they decided on a name: Evangeline Gaia. I'm going to go on record as not liking that middle name. Can't, of course, argue with "Evangeline" :)

When Jenn goes back to work, I'll watch the baby (Eva? Evie? Evangeline? Who knows?), and Ana will be in pre-school. If that works, I might watch them both, but only a few days a week. They simply can't afford to put them both in daycare, and unless I'm suddenly called away to California... well, I work cheap. They're family.

My mom sings a lot of Belgian-French children's songs with Ana. I'm working now on getting translations so I can eventually sing them in English, force the world to sing them in English, and... well, that's the end of my diabolical plan.

There were no bubbles at the toddler program today. I was sore disappointed. I like bubbles.

Truly, I love the "ring" of the name with Celeste too, but I do love the "Angel of the Earth" thing too.
