I wonder if this is true, that we don't know what houses the Marauders were in.
*thinks back*
It could be! I don't do fanfic (I don't like how I write, no, really), but now I really really want to see a fic where they're all in different houses.
Since I'm not writing one myself, the only solution is to throw myself on the mercy of my friends, many of whom do write fanfic.
We are never specifically told which house the Mauraders were in. JK Rowling has said in an interview that Lily was in Gryffindor, but I took a class on the books last semester and the professor challanged us to find out which house the rest of them were in, and nobody could find it. Not even a representative from Scholastic who posed the question to our professor.
That being said, we've all got our lovely hang ups that they were all nobel Gryffendors, but I think that a lot of the evidence shows otherwise. They could have all been in different houses actually. Wormtail has the merits of a Hufflepuff, or so we think before he betrays the Potters. Lupin could definitly be a Ravenclaw. Sirius' entire family were probably Slytherin and we know that many families all come from the same house. I think it's safe to say James could also be a Gryffendor as well, they talk about him like he was the greatest seeker for Gryffendor.
At the time that Hagrid says this statement, he believes that Wormtail was killed by Black. If this were to be true at the time, it'd mean that AT LEAST Sirius was in Slytherin. I don't think he'd make such a broad sweeping statement if it weren't true. If one of the most "vicious killers" in history was from Gryffendor, he'd remember it
Yeah, I asked the OP to unlock the entry. And she did!
