Though why we'd stop evolution in action by teaching the heretical "you can't walk off cliffs" theory, I don't know.

I believe the theory that gravity displaced was that angels would push objects where they needed to go. Invisible angels pushed objects down (like little babies when you drop them) and angels were assigned to each celestial body to move it where it had to go.
