And my second semi-girly post ever....
Dec. 17th, 2003 12:23 amI bought new jeans today. My old ones were getting a bit threadbare, and while they're still decent, I believe it is considered wise to buy new jeans BEFORE the old ones are unwearable. Now, I have some trouble buying jeans. Jeans are not made for real people, but for manniquins. If they're long enough, they don't fit over my hips, if they fit over my hips the waist is too big and has to be taken in, if they fit over my hips AND my waist, they're much too long, and so on, or they're just too expensive. Normally I go through some 10 pairs or so and end up with one that will do. Not that I love (reminds me, there is a pair I love but that I can't find in my size, must go out and find it later....) but that will do.
Today was different. I was a little disheartened because all the jeans were either tiny (duh. it's a conspiracy to make us all anorexic little twits, by overstocking the size 6's and 2's) or just ONE size smaller than I needed. But I picked out three which looked almost decent... well, one was really more a Lizziey pair of jeans than a Connie pair, but I wasn't in a mood to quibble with my clothes, and went down to try them on. And yes, they all were the one size smaller than usual... but as American clothing sizes aren't standardized, I was marginally hopeful.
Well, the first pair didn't fit at all, big surprise. But I tried on the second... and it was perfect. It fit perfectly, it looked good, and it had enough pockets. I was in love, didn't even try on the Lizziey jeans, just went upstairs and bought the jeans. They were the cheapest of the three I'd chosen too. Only problem is they button instead of zipping, a tad inconvenient, but I actually don't care.
Um. Anyway. Then I met up with Mommy, we ate out (Afghan food, wonderful, had Pumpkin Bolanee and Aushak and Spinach and Firnee and it was GOOOOD) and headed to the toy store... where, in the middle of shopping season, in the middle of touristland, in the middle of the week and the end of the day...
I FOUND THE PEEKABLOCKS I WANTED.
This bodes very VERY well for little christmas. Yay. No more panicking. I can rest easy tonight.
