Date: 2005-05-13 07:30 am (UTC)Lucas said he was tired of "hanging out with Luke Skywalker and his friends" and was going off to make little experimental films after Return of the Jedi, too. No little experimental films got made, and he eventually came back to do this prequel trilogy.
I suspect that eventually the post-Jedi trilogy he originally envisioned will be made as well.
As for Star Trek, I think it's fairly clear that it was deliberately killed by a current Viacom management which just doesn't like Star Trek, any version of it, period, and whether or not there is viewer fatigue, there is certainly producer fatigue, which hasn't helped matters any. If Manny Coto had been show runner for Enterprise, perhaps the killing of the show would still have taken place, but boy, what episodes we'd have gotten...!
