Just because he could? Because, seriously, that's a stupid reason to go fucking with the US government. With any government.

Oh well. As it wasn't me, I'll snicker at the government for being so easily thwarted in their plans (whatever those were) by a lowly teenager. Snicker, snicker, snicker - can I move someplace less vulnerable please?

Why do any hackers do any hacking? Because they can. I guess in some cases there's an actual benefit (say, hacking into a school system and changing your grade) but most of them just do it for the thrill of the hunt, I think.

Hm, I like 'because I can' as a reason to do things, though with more respect for legality. (I like rules and laws - other people are reasonably likely to follow them, so I can act under the assumption that they're going to - so it seems hypocritical to break them.) "Because I can" is a /great/ reason when no one else can, and it urges you to prove that you really can.
