The people in that thread sound like zealots, but the truly nightmarish fundamentalists include the Dominionists.

-Pastor James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, wants the death penalty for those who provide abortion, believes embryonic stem cell research to be a form of cannibalism, and thinks that Bush isn't conservative enough.

-Some other dominionists want the death penalty for "apostasy, blasphemy, sodomy, and witchcraft", and want a Christian government that will effectively end freedom of religion.

-The author of the article went so far as to cite a professor saying that when his students were 80, they would be fighting "Christian fascists", recalling the support of fascism by some conservatives in the 1930s, and comparing the repression of gays and lesbians to Hitler's first moves when in power.
