Before I went to class today I had to stop by Jenn's to pick up my bag, which I had inadverdantly left there Saturday. It's a very nice day today, more like April than December, and a nice contrast to the blizzardy Friday. And it's windy... so when I get to Jenn's, as I'm ringing the doorbell, half the roof fell off a house at the end of the street, less than a block away. It hit the power line, causing an ENORMOUS spark/bang... which was followed by many smaller sparkbangs up and down Westervelt (the cross street, Jenn is on Scribner). I kept ringing the doorbell, no answer no answer no answer, until I finally knocked. And knocked. Apparently, Jenn hadn't been dressed when I rang the bell, and she hadn't realized it was me at the door either.
I was, of course, terrified. I hatehatehate lightning, and all similar electrical happenings, and this was making a sound like a gunshot... plus the general wind conditions left me in danger of tree branches, even if I hadn't been in danger of power lines. *shudder*
So guess who didn't go in to class yet?
