I've heard that superstition. Never had all that strong a desire to be a boy though, and I want to be female.

Did you ever read that book, Martin Redpost Is a Girl or something like that? It's about this kid who hears that story, and then shortly thereafter, he just happens to get so bizarrely tangled up in a jungle gym (or something like that) that he's able to kiss his own elbow, and does, and then he starts to turn into a girl. Then I think he's on a quest to find a way to kiss his elbow again to remain a boy. I don't remember it that well, but I think it was pretty amusing.
