*rolls eyes*

And what a radical proposal it is, too. It's not like $7.25 is actually a liveable wage or anything. Sheesh.

With 2 kids, I was eligible for food stamps until I made $10.14.

With minimum wage where it is now, the government is just going to keep dishing out assistance to needy families everywhere. What in the hell ARE they thinking?

$1.00 AU is about .797 US. So $16.75 AU is about $13.35 US. So it's still a lot more than our minimum wage here.

I got this off of the Universal Currency Converter (http://www.xe.com/ucc/).

What's sad is that the minimum wage is the exact same amount it was back before I got my college degree. I couldn't live on minimum wage back then, I had to have a roommate to afford a decent apartment. I can't even imagine now, as Repubs are bitching about inflation. Inflation? Hello, it's already here, perhaps wages could keep up a tad? Or is that too much to ask? *roll eyes*
