This method doesn't work with everyone. I'd get bored and annoyed if it were used on me. It's much slower than explaining. And if you have memory problems, because it takes longer you can lose the ability to make the necessary connections. It's a good method. But it's all about having lots of methods and finding out which ones work with which people. I find that the Socratic method usually comes across as highly condescending.
1. I've never had that problem, but I can certainly see its possibilities. 2. Definitely. If you can't take the time to change your method to suit your student, maybe you need to get another job.
