Okay, now, we all know that Boomer's a Cylon, right?

Good.

I'm going to completely ignore the existance of Caprica-Boomer right now, and talk about Ship-Boomer.

Ship-Boomer, most of the time, seems to think she's human. We've never seen her fully appear to be Cylon. So she has no recollection of placing the bombs in the water tanks, and her human self is able to reassert itself in the ship while looking for water, therefore both 1. announcing that there is water and 2. not blowing herself up. There's going to be a separate paragraph on this, hold on.

My question is, why does it work like this? When she sees the detonator for the first time, why doesn't her Cylon self step in and take over, so that she doesn't freak and run to her boyfriend for help? (Better question, why does it let her freak and run to her boyfriend for help? Doesn't that put her in some serious danger? Or I mean, shouldn't it, like, if he weren't stupid?)

Or the whole thing when they're looking for water. I just saw this episode yesterday. She's looking at the screen going "multiple H20" and it *looks* like she isn't seeing it properly. That's why she does the scan a second time, that's why she's going "I'm having trouble saying this". This, combined with the existance of a detonator in her ship that she almost triggers makes me come up with this theory: The detonator was a failsafe. She can do a lot more damage alive, so the detonator was only there in case her human self tried to assert itself and announce the presence of water. If this were to happen, she was to blow herself up, and keep the water from the ship, but if things worked right (and she kept her mouth shut while seeing the water) she would have put the detonator back.

Once I have this theory, my question pops up. Is her programming failing? Is it *expected* to fail? Maybe human-Cylons can only spend so much time thinking they're human before it begins to stick, and fuck with their basic non-human programming, and this is why she's having moments where she has no idea what happened, because normally her Cylon programming would cut in at this time and cover up the blank spots.

Maybe.

Whee, this was a ramble.
