This happens to me sometimes, as I just said to [livejournal.com profile] readerravenclaw.

I try to be logical/rational. I don't always succeed, but I try. Occasionally, this leads me to convictions which, though I do agree with, surprise me. If I'd looked at myself from the outside, I wouldn't believe that I believe these things - or, at least, that I consider them worthy of examination.

Does this happen to anybody else? That they believe something that shocks them to realize, even if they know exactly how they came by that belief?
