Bashing furries just for being furries isn't funny. It doesn't even make sense. So, people get off on the hott furry sexx (this seems to be the majority of the furry-bashing, so it doesn't really matter if it's true or not). Who cares? Would you attack somebody for another sexual interest that's completely consensual? Why on earth are you prying into their lives? Nobody's forcing you to convert to furry-dom. You're not being harmed by anybody else's group identity, you're not being attacked, so, please stop talking about it.

Or at least make your furry-bashing-argument reasonable. OMG! UR A FURRY! UR AN IDIOT AND UNDERSTAND NOTHING! isn't reasonable. OMG! UR A FURRY! UR A PURV! may be reasonable, though I don't see how it's anybody's business. Anything else... I don't see why it should come up.

Okay, now that this is over with, I gotta say I've never understood the point of furry-ness. I'm sure that now that I've posted this, somebody will show up to explain it so I can be enlightened.

The point of furry-ness.

I'm pretty sure I qualify for the non-fetish side of furrydom, so I can't speak for the types that give the whole fandom a creepyness. But from my personal experience it's about characters. Sort of like getting attached to charcters in a book. That's how I got into it. As for fursonas (ones own personal furry character, in case you haven't heard the term,) most people have them for Role Playing purposes I think. It's a bit of yourself that you've given form. There's also the whole art thing, furries are pretty fun to draw, and there's some really amazing art out there. As far as fursuiting goes (in a non-sexual way) I've heard it's just the fun of dressing up and hiding your identity. You can bring joy to little kids and just be able to act in a way that you normally would be frowned upon for. I don't actually own a fursuit or anything, but I've met a lot of people who do that type of thing.

Someone can probably explain it better then me, sorry if my explaination is all jumpy and scatterbrained.

From the furries I know:
1) MOST of them don't do it for the hott furr sexx0r.
2) It's about as "kinky" as cosplay and fan fic.
3) Like cosplay and fan fic, I don't really "get it," but I understand generally why someone would do it-- it's just not my particular interest.

Yes, I know. It's like being hostile to the Internet because of cybersex.

Exactly. Most of the people I know in the furry fandom aren't into the perverted side of it-- they just happen to have a fascination with anthropomorphized animals.
