Oh, and the difference between an apartment and a condo? You rent an apartment, you own a condo (but it's in a building, it's not a house).

See, I know at least one person in my area (Texas) who is paying a mortgage on something that he describes as 'an apartment' (though I've never clarified the matter with him) and one other who pays rent on a condo . . . though, thinking back on conversations I've had with him, he may be subletting.
