So, I was stuffing the turkey. But before I could stuff it, I had to pull out the remaining ice chunks. You see, when I had set it defrosting in the fridge, I had forgotten that our fridge is hopeless. It would have had a better chance of defrosting in the attatched freezer. There was no way I was going to wait any longer to cook this damn thing, so I just decided to yank out any remaining ice.

And, apparently, and l-shaped piece of flesh that seems to have a bone attatched, but which may just be a frozen organ. What is this? It was near the neck, kinda.

It probably was the neck.

Usually they just leave the neck and a bag of giblets inside. Disgusting, really. Shove your hand up a dead bird's ass, and pull out the neck and a bag of organs. Heh. :p

I love turkey, though. I've cooked 2 of them so far. Make sure you baste it often, so it stays juicy. :)

on the organ: what does it look like? hmm.

I don't know about you, but we cook the neck and give it to our dogs.

because a neck is icky.

I'm pretty certain someone in my family gets to nibble at the neck due to its yummyness. And giblets go in the stock.

giblets do go in the stock, I know, and my mom ususally gets at the neck before the dog does. It's more of a tradition thing.

It's like, the only thing they get on holidays involving large birds.

hrmmm ...
