Xiggy asked what I wanted, so here it is:
Nov. 21st, 2003 07:21 pm1.
This one, but saying "support your local linguist" instead.
2.
This one, but saying "SHOPLIFTER!" instead... though I don't know, I kinda like it plain, now...
3.
This one, but saying "res agit". *giggles* VERY loosely translates as "shit happens". Very loosely. Res means "thing", but in context... res publica means "the republic" or "politics", res nova means "a revolution (the new thing)", and so on. Agit means to do, drive, bring, carry.... *sighs* Anyway.
4. One with a pic of the verrazano... I don't have a quote yet, nor a good pic. Will update as soon as I get either. *
5. I'm also browsing random icon places for
a. decent star trek icons, esp. pics of the various ships and captain picard/Q/Mr. Spock/Belanna (however you spell her name)
b. decent Matrix icons, esp. those featuring Trinity or Agent Smith (I want one of him in the last thunderstorm with some sort of rubber duckie/bubble bath quote....)
c. decent star wars icons, all characters
And whatever else strikes my little mind. I'm taking care to mostly take bases because you're a customizing person.
Happy? That enough to occupy you?
*Okay, found some pics:

Incidentally, I love this site.
Now I just need some bridgy quotes....
Hm. This one:
What is only walking Just a bridge away....
Emily Dickenson
For some reason, the words "Just a bridge away" are sticking in my mind. Bit meaningless, though....
Over the valley springs a shadowy bridge
That's from a poem by Richard Watson Gilder, but I'd need a different pic for that, one from a foggy day.... I suppose I could find a larger one and you could resize it?
Also possible:
Very little is needed to make a happy life. M. Antonius

Date: 2003-11-23 01:12 pm (UTC)The entire world is a very narrow bridge, and the most important thing is not to be afraid at all.
- Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (attrib.)
(Loose transcription: Kol haolam kulo gesher tzar meod, vehaikar lo lfached klal.)
It's loong, but if one writes "kol haolam kulo" at top and "gesher tzar meod" below, it fits.
Good points:
you'll have an icon with real Hebrew text, which is a plus to any avid linguophile (or what was that word)
Bad points:
everybody will assume you're Jewish and/or speak Hebrew, which can lead to misunderstandings, as you aren't/don't.

It'll make a nice change from school, where everyone assumes they have to explain Jewish/Hebrew things to me, all the time. After a number of such explanations, while I don't speak Hebrew (and probably never will, the beginning class is EIGHT IN THE MORNING, much better to learn Arabic, that starts at 6pm), I know quite a bit more about being Jewish than I did before. And the explanations all the time are getting repetitive.
Sorry, mild rant, it's been annoying always being (correctly, which makes it worse) assumed to be ignorant.
Still... Hebrew on my icon... Hm... if I could get that in Hebrew instead of transcribed....
