It's a new Chick Tract!
Dec. 16th, 2004 11:18 pmYay?
Panels 1 and 2:
What's with them wearing skirts? Is that normal in schools? Yeah, I didn't think so.
Panels 3 and 4:
So, they're ready to convert because he's really cute? And why does everybody in Jack Chick's world send kids out to convert people?
Panels 5 and 6:
1. WTF happened to her grandpa? Did I miss something?
2. What's with the interrogation? Can't he answer a simple question?
Panels 7 and 8:
I'll say they're in danger if they're so gullible that they're ready to convert to a new religion after a day....
Panels 9 and 10:
I get a whiff of the racism here, though even our esteemed Mr. Chick is too intelligent to let that be blatant.
Panels 11 and 12:
She's all ears? How about "all eyes and pigtails and creepy expressions"? Because, man, I'm going to have nightmares about that grin. And yes, Muslims do tend to learn about Mohammed before converting. It's kinda like learning about Jesus before becoming Christian. If you don't, you're missing a lot of important information.
Panels 13 and 14:
No comment....
Panals 15 and 16:
God, they *are* gullible, converting after a day. What *is* it with everybody and this mad dash to evangelize?
Panels 17 and 18:
Ooh, creepy devil eyes and condescension!
Panels 19 and 20:
Aren't they new neighbors? So why are they getting on a plane? Is this the whiffy racism, or is it just a way to avoid having to pretend that our friend, the heathen, can defend himself against all that is right and holy?
Panels 21 and 22:
How do we know that's a lie? We weren't there. So we cannot prove nor disprove Adam's height - or even his very existence. Futhermore, there are many ways to not be truthful without actually lying. For example, hyperbole (Adam was very tall? How tall? Why - 90 feet! Hahaha!) or metaphor (Adam was a great man. He was so great, everybody looked up to him, he was 90 feet tall!) or copyist's error (I said 90 inches, not 90 feet, you fool!).
Panels 23 and 24:
Lots of people had slaves at that time, including many people in the Bible. As for Allah doing horrible things to people, that's neither better nor worse than God destroying cities because some of the people in those cities had sinned, or Christians persecuting Jews because "they killed Christ" - which, I believe, is an idea taken from the Bible, rightly or wrongly.
Panels 25 and 26:
No comment. Definitely don't know enough about either the Koran or the Bible.
Panels 27 and 28:
Oh, not this again....
Panels 29 and 30:
Prove it. And, furthermore, prove your original assertation that only people who don't exist in graves can get you into Heaven, you self-righteous twit of a girl.
Panels 31 and 32:
Oh dear god... this is *not* what Genesis says, people!
Panels 33 and 34:
Guess maybe if Mohammed had done it, he'd've done the job right, made perfect people.... Note that nobody has ever claimed that Mohammed created the world.
Panels 35 and 36:
Yeah, God knocked up a young virgin without her consent. Tell me how that's so moral again? Okay, yes, afterwards she consented, but what was she supposed to say? No?
Panels 37 and 38:
Yeah, that argument doesn't make sense mihi. If I could get an explanation, I'd be happy.
Panels 39 and 40:
Sheesh. These kids have no... anything! Suzy, I wouldn't be too happy, in another week they'll decide they're Wiccan, and then they'll say they're Satanists, because it's cool.
Last two!
*eyeroll*
Yeah, no comment.
But as for the billions and billions going to hell - here's the thing. I want nothing to do with any being that'd condemn billions and billions to eternal torment, especially if that includes the (reasonably) innocent and the plain ignorant. So, yeah, I'm goin' to hell. I have to. I have my conscience to think about. Poor Suzy doesn't seem to.
I say harsher things than I ought. My apologies.

Date: 2004-12-16 09:01 pm (UTC)I just love the parts where she gets all condemnatory about Mohammed having multiple wives and owning slaves, when the Old Testament is rife with men marrying several women (cf. Rachel and Leah, Moses, etc., etc.) and slavery is specifically given rules and laws in Leviticus.
Oh, right, I forgot--that part of Leviticus doesn't count anymore. Just the parts about homosexuals and witchcraft.
Funny, that.

I may be Christian, but I am at the point where my feeling of Jesus' teaching of "nobody can get to the Father except through Me" was talking about the principle of LOVE.
Speaking of love...I DID get kinda sucked-in to Christianity through a guy I had a crush on... *whistles* At least he was compassionate, intelligent, non-accusatory, and showed honest cncern rather than a "holier-than-thou" attitude. Other mysterious things happened in that span of a week or so that just were too crazy to be coincidental...at least the God I know has a sense of humor and doesn't mind "demonic games" like D&D. :-)

So...the Bible can make all sorts of outrageous (to us) claims and be the Truth while the Koran can't?
Yes, pretty much.
I DID get kinda sucked-in to Christianity through a guy I had a crush on... *whistles*
*blinks*
But that wasn't the only reason. He didn't just tell you a pretty story and you converted.

I couldn't think of any references in the Bible about tolerance and understanding. But 1 Corinthians 13 comes close.
Plus, who told Jack that he decided who was going to hell in the first place?
I think he needs to read Matthew 7:1 and think about it for a while.

I cannot express the horror running through me.
I don't know much about Islam, but if it's anything like Judaisim and Christianity, you probably have to do something more than say some words. And if you want to be REALLY fundamental, you can't be saved and go to heaven in Christianity unless you're baptized. I didn't see any water or oil. Sorry, Susy! Hope you enjoy watching your friends burn in hell because you gave them false information! Okay, sorry, deep breaths. . . .
The argument in panels 37 and 38 is correct, as far as I understand Christian theology. Jesus accepted our sins and "died for them." I admit, it's fuzzy, but Mr. Chick is correct.
