Of course, I'd have to trek out to Minnesota. I'm sure I can find immersion programs right here in New York. I go to Minnesota, I'm visiting friends, not learning languages. With the exception of Walloon. I'd go anywhere to get a chance to learn Walloon. And if anybody on my friends list can help me with my goal, without having me learn French, I'd be happy.
Oh, and this icon reminds me, I finally am starting to catch up on my Stargate watching. Yesterday, saw the one with Teal'c in the Chair (dum dum dah). That was a *really* depressing episode. But it was worth it to see Evil Daniel. Why is it that characters always look better/are cooler when they're evil? Evil Daniel was even hotter than regular Daniel, even before we saw him being evil (okay, that was all of a second, but that's not the point). And both evil and vampire Willows were much cooler than normal Willow. This is a trend, and I don't know why.

Date: 2004-12-11 11:30 pm (UTC)Go back to the "Mirror, Mirror" episode of original Star Trek: the Evil Mirror Universe Spock was devilishly handsome with a more interesting uniform (better than Evil Mirror Universe's Kirk, I always thought) and a carefully trimmed beard.
Temporary, evil variations of regular characters are interesting because they bring out aspects of the original characters' personalities we would otherwise not see, precisely because those aspects are repressed in civilized people.
You have to have a disciplined/ethical/moral/decent character to start with for this dramatic exercise to work -- an "evil" Conan the Barbarian wouldn't be different enough from the "good" Conan, for example, to be worth the trouble to write.

I suppose when someone pushes you one way, you are inclined to push back, so that is what I did, I pushed back. My grandmother constantly used me as a performing animal when I got back, always wanting me to perform my little songs or speak with my limited German to our German relatives.
However, having looking at the brochure, it looked absolutely awesome. The program I took was a bit different from those Concordia ones, and if you have no annoying German grandmother shoving you off itt would be much better.
Being under the age of 18 means I would attend the children's classes, which seem nice. I would go to the Spanish one, though.
