This comes courtesy of [personal profile] chaosphaere at [livejournal.com profile] asperger.

She really said it perfectly, but I want to add my angry-ness. Angriness? But then I could say anger, and I'd rather not, thanks.

>Silicon Valley is so AS as a society, that it's difficult to have a "normal" life for a non-AS; no real social life, no one bonding to establish long-term friendships, etc. It only reinforces AS rather than promoting awareness and help. I haven't found a decent chruch that isn't dominated by AS spectrum. I have no where to escape, evenfor short periods.

Let's see. You're in a group of people who are perfectly happy as they are, but they are the ones who need help?

Oh, she replied.

Rewriting what I said doesn't really change anything. It feels more like an attack, an expression of your own frustration porjected towards me, when you're really frustrated with the world in general.

Chaos probably is frustrated with the world in general. I know *I* am! How does that negate what she said?

You claim to be AS. You claim to crave friendship and bonding. This is exactly opposite of what I've researched and experienced.

So... aspies in silicon valley aren't bonding with each other? What you've researched and experienced is not necessarily true. In fact, what you've experianced seems to be everything dominated by aspies. If aspies weren't ever interested in friendship and bonding, you wouldn't see this. You'd see the NT minority dominating all your social things like church.

Which way is it?

Yes, please tell me.

Are you saying you've overcome the social issues associated with AS, but still carry the stigma of being labeled AS?

Funny, many of the social issues of AS are social issues because most people are non-autistic. It seems reasonable to assume that these social issues aren't inherant to aspie-aspie relationships.

Do you tell people you meet you're AS?

Yes.... well, no. I tell them I'm an aspie or that I am autistic. It would be very silly of me to proclaim myself "Asperger's Syndrome".

Are you really supported by other AS people as a community?

No.... but I'm supported as a person. I suppose I *am* a community of one....

Do you want to live in a community made up almost entirely of an AS/ Autistic spectrum population?

Well, we know that you don't! Honestly, this far into your idiocy I'd say yes even if it were a lie, just to shut you up. The reality is that I can't answer this question. I spend a lot of time online. A good number of my friends are on the spectrum or otherwise neurologically interesting. However, that does not mean I would like to live with just my aspie friends - 1. I don't have that choice and 2. since I haven't tried it, I can't say whether or not I'd like it.

However, based on what I've heard from you, I'd say that it can't be worse mihi than a predominantly NT society.

Minor tangent

Seriously, your final statement is in itself not really sarcastic enough--taken at face value, it could apply to any number of situations.

wait. So in Silicon valley, there are alot of people with aspergers. ok. These people, with aspergers, have made a pretty good community. I think.

I'm confused here. It seems to me that this person has found a good place for people with Aspergers to at least visit.

Or I'm reading this horrendusly wrong.

Wonderful - you've thought of things I haven't ;)

What occurred to me was that this lady had all kinds of other problems going on. For one, she's so obsessed with "fixing" people, and micromanaging her boyfriend.

And maybe she is seeing Asperger's where it isn't. Even if there are a *lot* of Aspies in SV, that doesn't mean *most* people are.

Funny, I kept reading her *own* issues of social isolation into this... and that she was projecting her own social incompetence upon others.

That's what I suspected. She should just learn how to speak aspie get along with aspies. I mean, it can't be THAT hard, could it?
